4:13 pm - Among things I hate. . .
Falling asleep in meetings is in the top . . . well, it's not good. I have no idea how far up there it is, but it's not good.

12:51 pm - Just had to replace my iPhone.
Apple was pretty darn good about it. They let me in early, they woke up the Genius so that he could help me 15 minutes before my appointment, and the guy didn't even trouble to verify the symptoms that I was complaining about. He just replaced the whole unit, and asked me to verify that the GPS was working on this one. (It was.)

Which is great, but every time I get that kind of service, I wonder how much it cost me up front. Nothing happens for free.

*sigh*

3:33 pm - "Only me" meme, yanked from Kickaha.
Rules:
* Post 3 things you've done that you believe nobody else on your F-list has done.
* If anybody responds that they've also done one of the things on your list, add another thing.
* Encourage your friends to paste this into their own journal to list the unique things they've done.

1) Had two guys throw knives and fire at each other right past you, close enough for you to touch.
2) Read every First Love from Silhouette book ever published.
3) Sold a book to its author.

3:26 pm - Memories meme.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want

good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

(You should answer even if you only have online memories of me.)

After fifteen years, there's going to be more Beanworld! (Thanks, icebluenothing. How do you do that LJ username link thing, anyway? )

12:04 pm - Not here very much. . .
But if you want more <tiktok>, at this point, try over at http://tiktok.tumblr.com.  Mostly pictures and text sent from my phone, rather than long thoughtful posts, but it's where the me-action has been happening for a while now.

Easily syndicated via RSS.

10:53 am - A year of Em isn't big.
Joshua was, for his first eighteen months, in the 98th or 99th percentile for everything they measured. Length, weight, head size, handsomeness, etc.

Emily Hope isn't. At her last checkup, she was 10th percentile for length and weight. At this one, I forget which stat she's down to 3rd percentile on. She's still healthy, and growing--just not as fast as other kids. And she's not quite the weight she'd need to be to turn her car seat around, despite being old enough.

She's a cute little Em, though--I love her every minute of every day. http://www.feldon.org/gallery/v/aug07/P1010730.JPG.html

3:59 pm - RAISA.
It's like like RAID, but it's a Redundant Array of Inexpensive Stuffed Animals. When your baby starts to show a particular liking for one of their stuffed friends, go get more of the same animal! Josh adores--as in won't sleep without--Mr. Bear and Moo-Moo, whose species you can probably infer. Conveniently enough, there are two of each of these, so if one's in the car, another can mysteriously appear from the closet.

We lived in fear for his first thirty months that he would catch us with two Mr. Bears "on stage", so to speak. When he finally did, he was so cute about it--he just called the second one "Mr. Bear's cousin". Ever since then, the first one he sees is Mr. Bear, and the second one is the cousin.

With Moo-Moo, it's Moo-Moo and Moo-Moo's brother. . . but he pronounces it "brudder". Moo-Moo's brudder. _So_ cute.

11:49 am - Emily is interactive now.
My little girl Emily is eleven months old yesterday, and she's starting to be very much interactive. If you blow her a kiss, she'll stick her finger in her mouth and give you a raspberry. If you wave at her, she waves back. If you bibble-bibble-bibble--moving your finger up and down on your lips while blowing--she'll repeat it.

And she can point to "emily nose" and "daddy nose" 100% now. Never mixes up my nose for hers. :)

10:26 am - Today and this week.
This is Brain Awareness Week. You should remember to remain aware of your brain as much as you can.

Also, today is Pi Day, 3/14, which for some reason always reminds me of Llyra's Cheese Weasel Day. Don't ask me to explain that one; I'm too busy being aware of my brain, so I can't actually _think_.

Also, Albert Einstein's birthday. Perhaps that's why I can't think: I'm feeling like my thoughts are too small and insignificant on the birthday of the most important patent clerk in history.

Excelsior!

2:41 pm - Link of the Day: Cheap stuff from Amazon.com
http://www.junglecrazy.com lists everything on amazon that's at least 70% off. Some of it's really nifty--$3 for Darth Tater! :)

I particularly like his anamorphics; some of them are better than the best tromp l'oeil I've ever seen.

4:46 pm - Link of the Day: Boycott the RIAA.
Even if you strongly disapprove of pirating music _and_ think the RIAA is policing their IP in an entirely appropriate way, wouldn't it be nice if they knew that we were listening, and that they didn't have all the power in the relationship?

3:51 pm - Link of the Day 2/27/07
I can't guarantee that this will happen _every_ day, but when it does, I hope you enjoy it. . . .

My favorite web comics strip, and the one I've seen that is of the highest quality: Sinfest. It's profane, and yet somehow at points the most Christian comic strip I've ever seen. It's funny, and touching, and a wonderful love story.

It's about a pimp named Slick, a ho named Monique, a dog named Pooch, a cat named Percival, the Devil, his fan club, and God.

1:46 pm - My son, the felon.
That's not a typo--I didn't mean Feldon. I meant felon.

We were at the grocery store, and the cashier took my check and put it in her drawer. Josh, from the kid's seat in the cart, looks into the register and says. . .

"That's money. Put it in a bag. I want it."

Fortunately, he wasn't carrying a little toy gun or anything. . . .

12:59 pm - I do the day before, it seems.
As is often the case, I felt something much more the day before the event than the day of. Not sure why, but yesterday, I was quite about to cry for much of the day, about my dad, and today, well, business as usual, testing and documenting away. Much more productive today than yesterday. Not sure why.

I guess it may have to do with anticipation. I always fear my reactions to my emotions much more than the actual emotions themselves. "I'm going to be totally overwhelmed by this feeling--aaagh!" versus "okay, so today's the day. darn it." If that makes any sense.

10:51 am - My dad's death.
Tomorow is two years since my dad died. In theory, according to his synagogue, I have to have had the unveiling by then, or at least the rabbi I've spoken to thinks so.

They don't understand that I'm not ready to have buried him in the first place.
